Russell Heitz

“Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.”-Theodore Roosevelt

Russ believes that helping people with stressful legal matters is “work worth doing”. A graduate of the University of Illinois and The John Marshall Law School, Russ has practiced law for over 30 years out of the office in Fifth Avenue Station in Naperville. Some legal matters need tenacious advocacy in court while others lend themselves to thoughtful consultations and documentary planning- Russ has done both. Russ has obtained significant head-turning jury verdicts but also has championed multiple, successful published appellate decisions by the Second Appellate District in Illinois. Professional memberships include The DuPage County Bar Association (including three terms as chairman of the Labor and Employment Law Committee), Illinois State Bar Association, National Employment Lawyers Association- Illinois (NELA) and is admitted to the Trial Bar for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (i.e., Federal Court).

Russ also has experience in traditionally non-court related areas such as estate planning, real estate, corporate, and business Law. In fact, Russ has been a speaker on many estate planning topics, including wills, trusts, guardianships, and advanced directives such as powers of attorneys and living wills.

On a personal level, Russ has been married to a teacher (more work worth doing!) for over 36 years and has three seemingly well-adjusted adult children and two grandchildren. The oldest daughter and son-in-law are successful attorneys in Chicago who provide invaluable assistance, especially with Cook County litigation. Russ has also served as a Trustee on Not-For-Profit Boards.
